Time your rest, not just your sets
Rest between sets changes the result of your training. Too little and the next set suffers; too much and the session drags. This rest timer starts with a single tap, counts down and beeps when it is time to lift. Each completed rest adds to your set count.
How long to rest
| Goal | Typical rest |
|---|---|
| Maximum strength, heavy sets of 1–5 reps | 2–5 minutes |
| Muscle growth, sets of 6–12 reps | 1–3 minutes |
| Muscular endurance, 15+ reps | 30–60 seconds |
| Power and sprint work | 2–5 minutes |
These are common ranges, not strict rules. Big compound lifts such as squats and deadlifts usually need longer rest than isolation moves.
How to use it
Finish your set, tap a rest time, and the countdown starts straight away. Keep your phone on the bench or use full screen on a tablet. Press reset when you are idle to clear the set count. For timed work sets, use the interval timer.
