Time you can see

For young learners, “five more minutes” is abstract. A visual timer turns time into a shape: the coloured disc shrinks as time passes, so everyone can see at a glance how much is left. It makes transitions smoother and helps students pace their work.

Ways to use it in class

  • Transitions and tidy-up: 2 or 3 minutes.
  • Think, pair, share: 1 minute to think, 2 minutes to discuss.
  • Group work and stations: 10 or 15 minutes per rotation.
  • Quizzes and timed writing: 5 to 20 minutes.
  • Brain breaks: 2 to 5 minutes.

Set-up

Tap a time and press start. Put the page in full screen on the projector or interactive whiteboard. Choose a colour that suits the activity. When time is up, a gentle alarm rings until you tap the screen.

For student presentations, try the presentation timer with green, yellow and red warnings.

Questions and answers

Can students see it from the back of the room?

Yes. In full screen the disc and numbers fill the display.

Can I change the colour?

Yes. Pick red, blue, green, purple or orange in the settings.

How do I stop the alarm?

Tap or click anywhere on the page.
